Yacht club and charter

The Amilla Yacht Club (AYC) firmly anchors Amilla Fushi’s place on the international superyacht circuit and offers membership exclusively by invitation only.

The development of the Amilla Yacht Club and its marina facilities allows for refuelling, provisioning, maintenance and repairs (technicians can be brought from Malé), while yacht owners and their guests take some shore leave at Amilla Fushi – or even explore UNESCO protected Baa Atoll.

Amilla Yacht Club membership benefits include island and lagoon access at both Amilla and Finolhu, allowing use of both resorts’ facilities including the pools, beach clubs, spa and dining facilities; 10 per cent off all available Houses, Villas and Residences; 10 per cent off all food and beverage, spa, excursions and watersports at both resorts; and special access to exclusive events and parties.  Private dinner events can be arranged at Finolhu’s famous Fish & Crab Shack, and a 10 per cent discount is offered on day rental of Funadhoo Private Island.

The AYC also encompasses the island’s open to all, three-berth marina as well as the over water signature restaurant Feeling Koi (accessible directly by speedboat), the 1 OAK Lounge & Bar, and the Board Walk.

Serious seadogs can also while away their shore leave at Amilla’s HUB (Home of the Underwater Biosphere), the island’s epicentre of water-based activities offering remarkable aquatic excursions, a comprehensive Marine Biology programme, adrenaline-fuelled water sports, dazzling diving and boat charters courtesy of Dive Butler International.

Spa and wellness experience

The JAVVU Spa’s philosophy is to harness Amilla Fushi’s beautiful natural environment, capturing the energy of the ocean and the therapeutic potential of the breathtaking setting to help align body and mind with nature, sculpt and tone muscle, build stamina, and restore balance.

Small Maldives Island Co Chairman Michael Flynn says: “We have seen a real desire for a truly holistic approach to wellbeing from our guests, so rather than simply offering standalone spa treatments, we have created an integrated menu which focuses on the three pillars of wellness: Movement; Spirituality; and Spa.

Javvu’s holistic approach is complemented by an integrated spa menu of blissful pampering, featuring results-driven treatments from a carefully curated edit of world-class brands and ancient healing and energy therapies.

MOVEMENT at JAVVU

Tailored collections of whole-body fitness programmes have been designed to re-establish energy flows, increase circulation and create a foundation for balance, health and wellness.  For example, the signature ‘Maldivian Warrior Workout’ uses the pulling and pushing movements of tree trunks and sandbags, climbing coconut trees and swimming in the sea to create a full body functional workout.

SPIRITUALITY at JAVVU

JAVVU Spa draws on powerful, ancient healing and energy therapies to ease the body into a state of complete calm and restfulness. For example, Tok Sen Ancient Thai Therapy, which originates from Buddhist Monks, creates healing vibrations through rhythmic pressure on Thai acu-points applied with a special wooden tapper to relax stiff bodies, providing pain relief and deep release for the body and mind.

Meditation, breath-work and aromatherapy techniques are used throughout the wellness menu to revive the mind and promote blissful relaxation. The Intuitive Reflexology therapy combines the techniques of Vita Flex – a reflexology practice developed in Tibet thousands of years before acupuncture – with raindrop therapy to promote physical, mental and emotional harmony.

SPA At JAAVU

The philosophy at the heart of JAVVU is to deliver results driven therapeutics. Collaborating with world-class brands founded on natural and ethical integrity, JAVVU offers a treatment menu to satisfy spa junkies and novices alike.

The expert team of spa specialists offer guests a chance to truly immerse themselves in treatments that are fully tailored for their individual needs, including: PURE massages which focus on different massage modalities; QMS Rejuvenating Facials, varying from oxygen boosts to lip zone repair; and a selection of body scrubs and energising wraps by iLA.
Amilla Fush’s JAVVU Spa was crowned as the Indian Ocean’s leading Luxury Beauty Spa for 3 consecutive years by the World Luxury Spa Awards, and is cutting-edge.

Garden-to-table

Their wide-ranging new concepts have also revolutionised the culinary experience for guests at Amilla Maldives

Residences has unveiled Homemade@Amilla and Homegrown@Amilla, a growing series of innovations celebrating the abundant natural bounty of the island itself, and the Amilla Islanders’ extraordinary creative capacity for self-production. The wide-ranging new concepts have revolutionised the culinary experience at Amilla Maldives, embodying the resort’s reinvention as a champion for “conscious luxury”, sustainability and resourcefulness

Hitherto-overlooked indigenous ingredients are celebrated alongside the homemade, homegrown and homebrewed, bringing personality and vigour to nutritious, immunity-boosting menus. Homegrown@Amilla harnesses the 58-acre natural island’s plentiful green spaces; countless enclaves carefully tended, planted and cultivated to become the cornerstone of Amilla’s food and beverage offering. Fruit trees including banana, pineapple and papaya; a mushroom hut named The Pentagon; and a sweet potato garden are complemented by an organic hydroponic garden bursting with herbs, salads, microgreens, fruit and vegetables, edible flowers, and superfoods such as moringa, purslane and Abelmoschus manihot, as well as Maldivian rocket. At Cluckingham Palace, 60 happy hens provide all the fresh eggs needed for the resort kitchens; after investing in a coconut press, Amilla is also now making the most of its 2,000 coconut trees – an extraordinary renewable resource producing fresh coconut water and coconut milk, dried coconut flour and high-quality coconut oil.

In parallel, Homemade@Amilla is testament to people’s creativity and potential for self-production, dramatically reducing Amilla’s food mileage and packaging use, while creating an inspiring, interactive and informative experience for guests. Using simple, tried-and-tested, low-tech processes that can be easily replicated in guests’ own kitchens, organic produce from Amilla’s nutrient-rich gardens is transformed into nutritious, immunity-boosting superfoods, from Kimchi, fresh low carb bread and sourdough to nut butters, Ricotta and vegan cheese. Homemade drinks include beer made from waste pineapple skins and offcuts, Tepache, tonic water and bitters to signature probiotic sodas such as fresh ginger and lemon peel Earl Grey kombucha; Screwpine soda, made from the fruit of the pandana trees that cloak the island interior; or ‘living lemonade’ which is lacto-fermented with whey – itself a by-product of Amilla’s homemade yoghurt.

As well as actively showcasing simple home production methods like fermentation to interested guests, these products have enriched and enlivened the resort’s restaurant and bar menus. The newly created Living Cocktails menu includes signatures such as Limonade, featuring vodka and limoncello, finished with a splash of homemade green tea kombucha; Old Spice made from rum and spice bitters, topped with homemade ginger beer; and O-Margarita featuring tequila shaken with homemade orange shrub and lime juice, topped with Earl Grey kombucha. A newly installed copper alembic will soon be distilling essential oils and hydrosols using produce grown in Amilla’s gardens, or ingredients such as orange peel that would otherwise be discarded.
